The ShoreStation Dock Leg Extension Lock is used with classic dock leg frames and is used to keep the leg extension from acidentally extending out when a boat is tied to the dock on a tie line that is too short, or when your dock is installed at a level that the boat will come up under the dock and raise it up when the wave action rocks the boat.
These leg extension locks can also be used on ShoreStation rolling dock systems when the dock is removed. This is especially true when the main run of the dock is not perpendicular to the shoreline. As the dock system is being removed one wheel on the leg frame will contact the shoreline before the other causing the leg frame to raise up. When this happens the second leg extension will extend out because of the weight of the water trapped in the wheel will cause the leg to extend. This is undesirable when the dock system is rolled out and stored in its normal adjustment posistion for the winter. Keeping the leg extensions in their orginal adjustment location may eliminate them from having to be readjusted when the dock is installed again the next season.
